Pro Street Extreme

A MAD 2007 Project

Marc Austin and his "Pro Street Extreme" won best in show at the South Texas Bike Show on March 23-25.

Description

This Pro Street Extreme project was born in Marc Austin's mind after becoming tired of seeing the same old un-ridable projects in the industry over and over loaded with sheet metal. Most of the ideas seen now are just stolen from the real innovators like Donnie Smith, Kendall Johnson, Matt Hotch, Jesse Jurrens, Arlen Ness and Dave Perewitz. Although they offer some individuals a cheap way into the custom bike market, the current bobber craze also didn’t create any inspiration. Marc and his client decided to build something raw, real, violent and most of all usable.

This was just what was needed after finishing the "Texas Marshall" bike, which was built for Paul Marshall of Baltimore, MD. The bike turned out great, but was a certainly a departure from the MAD roots. It was nice to prove MAD could build a functional show style quality bike that you could ride, but now it was the time to get back to our basic instincts.

The "Pro Street Extreme", is a blend of high tech horsepower and raw street fighter attitude. This allowed for the creation of a down right intimidating fire breathing beast that you may want to try and outrun at a red light, but if you do, don’t be surprised when your girl is following our rider home after you've been humiliated. Anchored by a Kendall Johnson 124” Phase 3, B2 headed, dual carb 185HP power plant, Baker's latest Torquebox transmission, Bandit's toughest Pro stock lockup clutch and MAD ingenuity, wicked tire smoking burnouts and blistering acceleration should be the norm. First time street options like the double 60 top fuel race bike chain and Marc Austin Designs own new Low Life chain tensioner system are bound to start new industry trends. Simple fact is that belts don’t hold up if you ride like we do. Chains are the way to go.

More pictures to come. The whole project is off to paint, powder coat and chrome. Can’t wait to see what Chad at Copperhead Graphics comes up with on this one. We just tell him colors and let him go. The downside is we didn’t give him much sheet metal to work on this time.

Scheduled Debut is March 23-25th at the South Texas Bike Show in San Antonio. It may not be all the way done by then, but you’ll be able to get the point.
